Breast Re-augmentation

What is Breast Re-Augmentation?

The goal of breast re-augmentation is to address concerns from a previous breast augmentation. Some patients may need to replace older implants while others may be concerned about the implant positioning, sagging breast tissue (ptosis), implant rupture, and/or capsular contracture. Some patients opt to do a re-augmentation surgery because they want a different size implant. Dr. Crofts will address the patient’s needs during the consultation.

The Aesthetica Difference

As a board certified plastic surgeon with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Crofts has performed thousands of breast re-augmentations. Breast re-augmentation can be very difficult and Dr. Crofts experience in dealing with complicated re-augmentation cases provides you with options to maximize your results including reconstruction with Galaform, Ovitex, and Strattice (an acellular reconstructive tissue matrix to support the tissue and hold the breast pocket in the desired location). We offer several different options of silicone implants including gummy bear implants.

Journey to Confidence

Frequently Asked Questions

Patients who are concerned about the appearance of their breasts after augmentation, patients who would like size changes, and/or patients who need to replace older implants.

Breast re-augmentation surgery can at times be complicated if patients are experiencing implant positioning problems or breast ptosis (sagging of breast tissue). In some cases, surgery can take up to 7 hours to fully correct specific breast concerns. Average pricing for re-augmentation can start at $8,500. This price includes expenses for the operating room, anesthesia, and Dr. Crofts fees. You will receive a quote for the exact cost of your breast re-augmentation after your consultation.

Breast implants are not lifetime devices and will need to be replaced about every 10 years. Some patients are unhappy with the appearance or changes in the breasts over time and elect to change or correct any asymmetries. Some patients change their mind about breast implant size and choose to replace implants to go bigger or smaller in implant size.

Recovery depends on what is done surgically. Typical recovery is 2 weeks of no lifting over 5 lbs and no strenuous activities, but can go up to 8 weeks if implant repositioning is done.

If a patient is unhappy with previous scars, they can be revised during surgery. Genetics play an important role in healing and scar formation. If a patient tends to keloid there is still a risk it can happen with any scar revision.

Breast re-augmentation surgery can typically be combined with other procedures, but it depends on a patient’s health history and length of surgery.

It is important to stay away from NSAIDS 2 weeks before surgery.

Breast re-augmentation surgery can be more expensive than a first time breast augmentation if a patient has breast ptosis (breast sagging) or implant position problems.
