PLASTIC SURGERY 2013

What is the 2013 annual meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons?  Why is it important to Dr. Crofts? Why should it matter to you?

This meeting of plastic surgeons brings together the best and the brightest in the specialty.  The annual meeting is a conference intended for plastic surgeons, trainees and other allied health professionals interested in translating their expanding knowledge into practice, improving patient care and outcomes.  This conference is now in it’s 88th year!  The conference has provided generations of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeons the education they need to grow all aspects of their surgical career and practice.

The America Society of Plastic Surgeons is the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world.  It was founded in 1931 and has over 7,000 members who are all board-certified plastic surgeons in the United States who perform cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

The mission of America Society of Plastic Surgeons is to advance quality care to plastic surgery patients by encouraging high standards of training, ethics, physician practice and research in plastic surgery. The Society is a strong advocate for patient safety, and requires its members to operate in accredited surgical facilities that have passed rigorous external review of equipment and staffing.

Board certified (American Board of Plastic Surgery, member board of the America Board of Medical Specialities) plastic surgeons attend the meeting to continue their education and understanding of the plastic surgery speciality.  Because the art and science of medicine is dynamic.  To maintain board certificationall plastic surgeons must receive continuing medical education (CME) credits.  This education gained at this conference contributes to those CME requirements.

Dr. Crofts regularly attends this meeting and others sponsored by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He also attends meetings given by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the International Society of Plastic Surgery, and others.

This translates in constant training and education, which equtes to even better outcomes and pleased patients.   Is your plastic surgeon board certified?

This annual meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons will be held in SanDIego, October 11-15, 2013.
