Scar Revision

About Scar Revision

Scar revision is a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of a scar, making it less noticeable or more cosmetically appealing. Whether caused by injury, surgery, or other factors, scars can sometimes heal poorly or become raised, discolored, or uneven. During scar revision, one of our plastic surgeons, Dr. Crofts or Dr. Curiel, may use techniques such as excision, reorientation, or advanced suturing methods to minimize the visibility of the scar. The goal is to create a scar that blends more naturally with the surrounding skin, improving both its aesthetic and functional outcomes.

The Aesthetica Difference

Dr. Crofts and Dr. Curiel bring over 25 years of combined experience to scar revision surgery, using the latest techniques and state-of-the-art technology to ensure the best possible outcomes. Their attention to detail and personalized approach help minimize the appearance of scars. By carefully evaluating each patient's unique needs and customizing the treatment plan, they can improve the aesthetics of the scar, giving patients the confidence to feel great in their skin again.

Journey To Confidence

During scar revision consultation, the size, location, and type of scar will be assessed and your goals discussed to determine the most effective treatment plan. Dr Croft or Dr. Curiel will explain the procedure in detail, and answer any questions to ensure you feel comfortable moving forward with the surgery.

Before your surgery, you will have a pre-operative appointment where your surgeons will review the procedure details, have you sign consent forms, answer any last-minute questions, and provide you with instructions for preparing for surgery. This will ensure you are fully informed and ready for a smooth surgical experience.

Your scar revision surgery will be performed at an accredited facility and typically takes about 1 – 2 hours, depending on the complexity of the procedure.

Your first follow-up appointment will typically be held at our Lindon, UT office 1 – 7 days after your scar revision surgery to monitor your progress and ensure proper healing. Additional follow-up appointments will be scheduled based on your particular treatment plan.

Recovery from scar revision surgery generally involves 2 weeks of rest and following specific aftercare instructions to promote healing. You may experience some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort, but these symptoms should gradually improve over time. Dr. Crofts or Dr. Curiel will monitor your recovery during follow-up visits to ensure optimal healing and discuss any necessary steps to improve the appearance of your scar.

The results of scar revision surgery will become more noticeable as healing progresses, typically within a few months.

Truly amazing! Can’t say enough about how friendly, knowledgeable and helpful his staff is. As for Dr Crofts himself- He’s very educational, professional and his work is top notch. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a surgeon!
