What Is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Aesthetica is the only medical spa in Utah County to offer the TotalFX CO2 Laser Treatment. This laser treatment improves the quality and appearance of the skin by minimizing the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and dark spots that come with age and sun exposure. The TotalFX is a revolutionary treatment that targets the skin fractionally, leaving bridges of untouched healthy skin cells that aid in the healing process and reduce downtime.
Your total treatment time will last approximately 30-45 minutes, although total time will vary depending on the area treated. You should expect continued improvement for up to six months following the procedure.
The Aesthetica Difference
Dr. Crofts performs the skin resurfacing laser himself rather than having nurses or estheticians perform this treatment. Dr. Crofts will also bring in an Anesthesiologist to assist in making you as comfortable as possible. This also allows Dr. Crofts to give you better results by allowing him to be more aggressive in treatment settings.
Journey To Confidence
Physical exam, get questions answered, create a laser treatment plan and start on pre skin care 1 month before treatment.
You will have a pre-operative appointment three weeks prior to surgery. At this appointment, you will sign consents, discuss any last minute questions and concerns, and get further pre- and post-surgery instructions.

Laser Skin Resurfacing is a fractional laser treatment that combines DeepFX and ActiveFX procedures for total solutions in one treatment with minimal downtime. Most patients will resume normal activities within 1-2 weeks.
How does Laser Skin Resurfacing work?
Laser Skin Resurfacing utilizes a narrow laser microbeam to remove columns of tissue deep into the layers of the skin. The body then heals the channel, which stimulates immediate new collagen growth to improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and fine lines.
ActiveFX uses a larger beam to treat the upper layer of skin to remove unwanted pigmentation, promote new skin regeneration, and improve fine lines and texture. In one treatment, TotalFX stimulates collagen growth for up six months that can improve the appearance of scars, wrinkles, fine lines, tone, texture, and pigmentation.
What is the Laser Skin Resurfacing like?
First, Dr. Crofts’ staff will assist in applying a topical anesthetic to aid in treatment comfort. An anesthesiologist will lightly sedate you to make you more comfortable during the procedure and allow for a deeper treatment thus improving results. Dr. Crofts performs all CO2 treatments. The DeepFX laser is done first and then followed immediately by the ActiveFX.
Immediately following treatment, your skin will be warm and it will appear as though you were sunburned. Dr. Crofts will provide you with a skin care regimen for the days following your treatment and as your skin heals, you will begin to notice an improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, tone, and texture.
