Lower Body Lift

A Lockwood lower body lift aims to restore the buttocks and thighs to a more firm and youthful appearance. As we age, gravity takes its toll on the lower body, giving the buttocks a boxy or saggy appearance and an increased appearance of cellulite. Weight gain and weight loss can also have a significant effect on the lower body. The Lockwood lower body lift procedure can address the loose skin, sagging, and cellulite by dissecting the skin and tissue to the mid-thigh and lifting and anchoring the skin into its new position, at which point the excess skin and fat are removed. The incision runs along the backside in the bikini line.

At the consultation, Dr. Crofts will determine if the Lockwood Lower Body lift is the right procedure to help you reach your surgical goals.

As a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Crofts has performed hundreds of lower body lift procedures. Dr. Crofts uses the Lockwood Approach to body lifting. Other – less extensive – procedures take less time and cost less, but fail to achieve the superior lifting results that Lockwood’s approach yields. A belt lipectomy, for instance, only removes some excess skin and fat in the flank area. The Lockwood approach uses the deeper fascia as the anchoring point, which minimizes wound breakdown and gives a true lift in the buttocks and thighs. This approach also minimizes the spreading of the incisions, resulting in a thinner scar.

Journey To Confidence

At your consultation, you will be able to discuss questions and voice what you would like changed through surgery. Dr Crofts will discuss the details of the procedure and create a surgical plan with you. Our office staff will provide you with a surgery quote and can help to schedule a surgery date at this point.

You will have a pre-operative appointment three weeks prior to surgery. At this appointment, you will sign consents, discuss any last minute questions and concerns, and get further pre- and post-surgery instructions.

Your surgery will take place at an accredited facility. This is generally a 6 to 7 hour procedure. You will stay overnight with a nurse for the first night.

Generally, you will be seen 1 to 3 days after surgery and again 4 to 5 days later. Further post operative appointments will continue and be dependent upon your recovery.
