What is a Tummy Tuck?
The goal of a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is to restore the abdomen to a more firm and youthful appearance.
Weight gain and loss, childbirth, and aging can all change the appearance of the stomach. The tummy tuck procedure can address the loose skin, bulging (diastasis), and stretch marks by tightening the abdominal fascia layer and excising loose skin and lower abdominal stretch marks. To achieve their desired results, some patients may want liposuction of the love handles or other areas along with the tummy tuck. Dr. Crofts will give each patient surgical recommendations based on their physical exam at the time of the consultation.

Journey To Confidence
At your consultation, you will be able to discuss questions and review what you would like changed through surgery. Dr Crofts will discuss the details of the procedure, show you the benefits of tummy tuck surgery, and create a surgical plan with you. Our office staff will provide you with a surgery quote and can help schedule a surgery date at that time.
You will have a pre-operative appointment three weeks prior to surgery. At this appointment, you will sign consents, discuss any last minute questions and concerns, and get further pre- and post-surgery instructions.
Your surgery will take place at an accredited facility. This is generally a 3 hour procedure. The first night you will stay with a nurse for overnight observation.
Generally, you will be seen 1 to 3 days after surgery and again 4 to 5 days later. Further post operative appointments will continue and be dependent upon your recovery.
Recovery for tummy tuck surgery is generally 6 to 8 weeks of no strenuous activity to allow the abdominal repair to heal. At Aesthetica, post operative care and safety is our number one priority. We see patients frequently after their procedure to assure healing and recovery is on track. Patients have 24 hour access to an on-call nurse for emergencies.

What is the best weight before a tummy tuck?
Every patient’s body and surgical needs are different. We evaluate each patient carefully to determine if you are a candidate for surgery. Patients will get their best results when they are closer to their ideal weight.
What are the different types of tummy tucks?
There are different types of tummy tuck surgery including mini tummy tuck, mini extended tummy tuck, and full tummy tuck. A full tummy tuck will address any loose skin, abdominal diastasis, and/or stretch marks below and above the belly button. Mini tummy tucks and mini extended tummy tucks typically treat loose skin, diastasis, and/or stretch marks only below the belly button.
Can you have a baby after a tummy tuck?
It is recommended that you are done having children before undergoing a tummy tuck procedure.
Does a tummy tuck treat stretch marks?
Yes. The stretch marks below the belly button will get excised with a tummy tuck procedure.
How do I know if I’m a good candidate for tummy tuck?
