Upper Body Lift

An upper body lift is a surgical procedure that addresses the loose skin of the upper back extending to the bra line. It may also include a reverse tummy tuck which would extend incisions around the upper abdomen just below the breasts to lift and tighten the upper abdomen skin. This procedure removes excess skin resulting from significant weight loss or the natural aging process to improve the overall appearance of the upper back and/or upper abdomen. Although there is an incision that runs along the upper back in the bra line, patients usually prefer that to rolls of skin that cause discomfort or that can be seen through clothing. During a consultation, Dr. Crofts will determine if an upper body lift is right for you.

An upper body lift is a major surgery that requires a lot of consideration. With decades of experience, Dr. Crofts has established an art for providing his patients with beautiful results. From the very beginning of your consultation, Dr. Crofts will work with you individual to craft a treatment plan that will help you reach your goals.

During your consultation, we will discuss your expected results from upper body lift surgery. Dr. Crofts will go over the surgical procedure details and create a treatment plan specifically tailored to you. Our team will provide you with a surgical quote as well as help you schedule your surgery date.

About three weeks before your surgery, you will have a pre-op appointment. During this appointment, we will go over any last-minute questions or concerns that you may have, review pre- and post-surgery instructions, and have you sign the surgical consent forms. You will also be given a pre surgery goodie bag.

Your upper body lift will be performed at an accredited facility by Dr. Crofts. The length of your surgery will vary based on what areas are being treated, but you can expect it to last anywhere from 3-6 hours. Based on your specific treatment plan, more than one surgery may be necessary.

An overnight stay may be required after your upper body lift due to the fact that multiple areas may be treated at once. Due to the fact the upper body lift may involve multiple surgeries, your recovery period may last a little longer.

While you may notice results immediately after your upper body lift, final results will become visible within 2-3 months or more after your body has completed the healing process.

Dr. Crofts is an amazing surgeon! I did a fair amount of research before I visited his office. After meeting him and his staff I knew I was in the best place possible for me. The staff were incredibly supportive, thorough, kind and knowledgeable. Everything was explained to me in detail and the staff answered all my questions. From the first day in the office to post op I have been cared for in the best possible manner. My surgery went very well as did my healing process, and my breasts turned out beautiful! I am so happy with the results and I now have more confidence in my body. Dr Crofts is a gifted plastic surgeon who cares about you as a person. I would strongly recommend him and his staff. They are an incredible team!

Will I have scarring?

While the exact scarring will vary from patient to patient, you can expect some scarring. Dr. Crofts tries to make incisions as inconspicuous as possible and will provide helpful instructions for post-op care that can help minimize the appearance of the scars.

When can I start exercising after my upper body lift?

Many patients can resume light activities after 3 weeks and  can resume normal everyday activities within 4–6 weeks.

Can an upper body lift help you lose weight?

The upper body lift is not intended for those looking to lose weight. In fact, you should be at your ideal weight before having an upper body lift, as weight loss and weight gain can affect your results.
